Once again I am thrilled to be part of this giveaway, in the company of some of the best writers of biblical fiction. If you love to read biblical fiction, head to Christine Dillon's website StoryTellerChristine to be in to win one of the books shown above.
I've been travelling lots lately - in my writing to Bethlehem where Tanit, the female protagonist and 'good girl turned bad and trying to turn good' has stumbled across people who knew her Babylonian grandfather, and whose sons were murdered by King Herod. She's hearing the history of that ancient little town and is amazed (as was I) that she has much in common with Bethlehem's women of renown: Rahab, Ruth and Mary. I'll leave you to figure out what!
In my real life I've been travelling to France where I spent two days hiking the Huguenot trails in the mountains of the Cevennes. I was with three gorgeous French women, all with Huguenot ancestry. It was a pilgrimage of sorts to remember the trials these faith-filled people of God endured for over two hundred years from the 1572 massacre of thousands in Paris until the French Revolution.
Walking the steep, stony trails gave me a tiny taste of the hardships so many men and women of God have endured through the centuries. For us it was relaxing and fun with fantastic food and a comfortable bed each night. For the Huguenots escaping persecution, with the outlawed Bible hidden under clothes or tucked into their swept up hair, it was a different story. Surely a story worthy of a historical fiction novel.
Meanwhile I will keep writing the story of Tanit as she follows the footsteps of her grandfather, a wise man of Babylon who saw written in the skies a star proclaiming the birth of a king.
Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth and it stands fast. Ps.100:89-90
